Fun Facts about Water! General Information about Lake Michigan

As a small group project, students will examine the problem of water pollution in Lake Michigan on the basis of each of the following Theory of Knowledge subject areas: mathematics, science (social and natural), history, aesthetics, political and moral judgment.

Mathematics Science History
Aesthetics Politics Moral Judgement

As a final small group project, students will be required to present a comprehensive revitalization plan for a specific geographical area of the Chicagoland lakefront.  The oral presentation will demonstrate a knowledge of and appreciation for all of the subject areas in the TOK curriculum. The project will provide a concrete example of how water pollution is not simply a problem requiring a scientific answer but a solution that integrates all areas of human knowledge, belief and judgment.
